Found Memories
Photographs serve as markers of existence, capturing moments that once held significance to someone, somewhere. Yet, as time moves forward, these images often become untethered from their original context—left behind at estate sales, buried in flea markets, or discarded without thought. My ongoing project, Found Memories, seeks to rescue and recontextualize these lost narratives, giving them new life and meaning.
As a collector and curator of vintage photographic slides, I do not claim authorship over these images. Instead, I act as their steward, preserving their legacy through digital scanning and careful selection. Over time, I have amassed thousands of slides and negatives, each one a fragment of an untold story. The collection is constantly shifting—some images rise to the surface while others recede, shaped by my evolving perspective and discoveries. Found Memories is not a static archive; it is a living, breathing body of work, continuously reshaped as I review, interpret, and contextualize the images within it.
Through this work, I explore themes of memory, loss, and the passage of time. In an era where photographs are both abundant and disposable, Found Memories serves as a meditation on the ephemeral nature of human experience and the enduring power of the photographic image. By curating and sharing these lost moments, I create a bridge between the past and the present, offering a new audience the opportunity to engage with these memories rather than letting them fade into obscurity.
